Lela Ernestine Seale
A resident of Baker and a native of Gloster, Miss., she died Monday, May 28, 2007, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center.
She was 87, born June 25, 1919, to the late Grover Cleveland Corban and Lois Willis Whittington Corban. She was a homemaker and a member of Galilee Baptist Church, Gloster.
She is survived by five children, Wayne Seale and his wife, Erna, Betty Seale Clary, Jackie Seale and his wife, Kathryn Emily, Lynn Spink and her husband, Don, and Brenda Varvel and her husband, Ron; 15 grandchildren, Penny Seale, William J. Seale III, Brian Seale, Vanessa Wright, Tanya Medcalf, Monica Clark, Tammy Clary, Tiffany Clary, Douglas Seale, Ryan Seale, Carole Spink, Mark Spink, Kimberly Davidson, Todd Varvel and Timothy Varvel; 13 great-grandchildren, Garrick Davidson, Alexa Wright, Grant Wright, Austin Varvel, Savannah Varvel, Dallas Ossowski, Bernard Seale, Blaise Seale, Lila Seale, Luke Medcalf, Nathan Medcalf, Sage Clark and Blain Seale; and four sisters, Eleanor Tallarico of Gloster, Nell Bennett of Santa Ana, Calif., Nena Sterling of Centreville, Miss., and Patsy Helmly of Maxeys, Ga.
She was also preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, William Joseph Seale Sr.; son, William Joseph Seale Jr.; daughter-in-law, Peggy W. Seale; two grandchildren, Valerie Lynn Seale and Karen Denise Seale; two sisters, Hazel Foster and Lucille Zeigler; and six brothers, Willie Ray, Alton, John ``Bud,'' Robert Lee, Lucian and Joel Corban.
Visiting at Brown Funeral Home, Gloster, on Friday, June 1, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting at Galilee Baptist Church, Gloster, on Saturday from 10 a.m. until funeral service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Odus Jackson. Interment in Roseland Cemetery.
