Leland Reece Brady
Reece Brady, age 83, of Salt Lake City, UT, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 24, 2003 in Salt Lake City, UT.
Reece was born Feb. 2, 1920 in Manassa, CO to John Jefferson and Ella Ree Holman Brady. On Sept. 13, 1939, He married Hannah Jackson, in Romeo, CO. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on May 7, 1942. Reece was an active member of the Latter-day Saint Church and served in various callings. He particularly enjoyed serving as a temple worker and missionary with his wife, Hannah.
Reece was an educator for over 40 years in Colorado, New Mexico and Utah. During this time he was a science and math teacher, principal and basketball coach. He retired after teaching for many years at Olympus Junior High in Salt Lake City. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was an avid fan of BYU sports. He was a hard worker and enjoyed spending time on his farm in Colorado.
Survivors include his childhood sweetheart, Hannah Brady of Salt Lake City, UT; daughters, Judith Hammond, Nancy Curtis (Richard), Ella Westley, Sharon Smith (Terryl); sons, Robert (Brenda), Anthony (Karla), and Daniel (Peggy, deceased); 23 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; sisters, Ardeen (Jack) Garland, LaVern King; and brother, Max (Edwina) Brady. Preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
The family would like to thank the staff at Evergreen Canyons Health and Rehabilitation Center for their compassionate care of Reece.
Services will be Mon. April 28, 2003, 11 a.m. at the Garden Heights Ward Chapel, 2220 E. Fisher Lane (2935 S.), where friends may call Mon. 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment: Holladay Memorial Park, 4950 S. Memory Lane (1990 E.). Funeral Directors: The Holbrook Mortuary.
