Leola Whittington
A resident of Denham Springs, Leola Rollins Whittington died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at Ochsner Medical Center in Baton Rouge.
She was 84, born Oct. 9, 1927, to Emmitt Rollins and Mary Alice Whittington Rollins. She was a former clerk with Dollar General Stores.
She is survived by three sons, Leon Whittington and wife Peggy, Lewis Whittington and wife Kathy, and Glen Whittington and wife Sandy Sue; eight grandchildren, Joseph Whittington, Paul Whittington, Billy Whittington, Danielle Bowyer, Rebecca Nicholson, David Whittington, Erin Demara and Jessica Black; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmitt and Mary Alice Whittington Rollins; husband, Jewell Hollis Whittington; four brothers, Mann Rollins, Street Rollins, Carl Rollins and Judd Rollins; and five sisters, Mary Lou Whittington, Neva Whittington, Pauline Reeves, Audie Guice and Niner Jackson.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Visitation was at Brown Funeral Home chapel, Gloster, Miss., on Saturday until funeral service, conducted by the Rev. Paul Taylor. Interment was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, near Gloster.
