Leon Clyde Brazell
Services for Leon Clyde Brazell, 79, of Jonesville, who died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001, in Alexandria, will be held at 1 p.m. today at the Lake Lillie Baptist Church with the Revs. Frank Bass and John Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in the Heard Cemetery in Manifest under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. Visitation will be today until service time at the church.
Mr. Brazell was born March 20, 1921, in Georgetown, son of John and Betty Brazell. Mr. Brazell was a retired mail carrier and a member of Lake Lilly Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the National Rural Letter Carrier Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Robert Edward Brazell.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Brazell of Jonesville; three sons and their wives, Leon and Sallie Brazell Jr., both of Jonesville; Johnny and Yvonne Brazell, both of Jena, and James ``Jim Mike'' and Gail Brazell, both of Monroe; one daughter and her husband, Marsha and Billy Baker, both of Jonesville; one sister, Lottie Wiley of Jonesville; 11 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Israel Kimbrough, Mikey Brazell, Nash Neal, Kyle Neal, Matthew Brazell, Shane Bass, Lank Bass and Robert Squyres. Honorary pallbearers will be Silas Aswell, Pete Wiley, Dale Bass, Mark Bass, Kerry Bass, Jerry Wayne Cascio, deacons of Lake Lilly Baptist Church and Dr. Jose Garcia. The family requests that memorials be made to the Lake Lilly Baptist Church youth fund.
