GULFPORT, Miss. -- Leonard LeRoy Hammons, 68, a former resident of Alexandria, La., died at 11 a.m. Saturday in a Gulfport hospital after a long illness. He was a native of Little Rock, Ark. and was a long-time employe of Armour Packing Co. in Alexandria prior to moving to Gulfport.

Survivors include his wife, Willie Mae Slocum Hammons of Gulfport, and two grandchildren and a step grandson.

Funeral services will be held in Gulfport Monday afternoon.
