Leroy Oscar “Weed” Underwood, 83, a retired retail merchant, died Friday, Oct. 15, 2004, in Fort Worth.

Memorial service: 2 p.m. Monday at Mountain Valley Funeral Chapel.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the charity of donor's choice.

Weed served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant with the 8th Corps on Guadalcanal.

He was an active member in the Horseless Carriage Club, where he discovered his second love of restoring antique cars. He and Joy owned and operated Audio Associates in Fort Worth from 1951 to 1979.

Survivors: Wife of 62 years, Joy Underwood of Burleson; daughter, Denise Biondo and husband, Jimmy of Hollywood, Fla.; son, Rex Underwood and wife, Sandra of Fort Worth; brothers, Marion Underwood and wife, Marcy of Tulsa, Okla., John Underwood and wife, Wig of Apple Valley, Calif., Kenneth Underwood and wife, Nita of Tulsa, Okla.; grandchildren, Julie Bryson and husband, Brad of Rhome, Holly Carney and husband, Paul of Weatherford, Donnie Sanders and wife, Cat of Roanoke, Tony Narvaez of Hollywood, Fla. and Lindsy Hardgrove of Fort Worth; great-granddaughters, Bailey and Brittany Bryson and Kayla Carney; extended family members, Debbie Ledford, Amanda Holt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
