Dallas Man Fatally Shot In East Texas

Leroy Williams, 26, Dallas textile worker employed by the Texas Textile Mills at Love Field, was shot through the head and killed in an affray near Haslam, Shelby County, Monday night while visiting his father, Tom Williams, in Logan, Panola County.

J. W. Jackson, a deputy constable at Joaquin, Shelby County, was taken to a Center hospital with knife wounds. Williams is survived by his wife and three children, his father, five brothers, Hamp Williams and Sam Williams of Dallas, George Williams of Logansport, La.; T. J. Williams of Nacogdoches and Grover Williams of Center; five sisters, Mrs. N. W. Whittington and Mrs. C. W. Clark of Dallas, Mrs. W. W. Sayers of Bethany, La.; Mrs. Lois Wright of Houston and Mrs. Matt Muse of Natchitoches, La.

Murder Charge Filed In Dallas Man's Death

J. W. Jackson, deputy constable of Joaquin, Shelby County, was charged with the murder of Leroy Williams, Dallas textile worker employed by the Texas Textile Mills at Love Field, by County Attorney Emmett Wilburn at Center Wednesday.

Williams was shot Monday night in an affray near Haslam. Jackson is in a Center hospital for knife wounds which, according to witnesses, were inflicted by Williams prior to the shooting. Jackson's condition was reported to be serious, but recovery is expected.
