Lester Levell Connor
(August 20, 1927 - March 22, 2009)

Mr. Lester Connor, age 81, of Dodson, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2009 at Winn Parish Medical Center. Mr. Connor was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and later served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Winnfield and served formerly as a First Councelor in the Bishopic.

Mr. Connor is the son of the late Oliver K Connor and the late Gladys Goodson Connor. He was also preceded in death by his first wife Margaret Cockerham Connor and by his Great Grandson Davin Knee.

Mr. Connor is survived by his wife: Marilyn Hemperl[e]y Connor; three sons: Billy Connor, Robert Connor, and Jimmy Connor all of Fairbanks Alaska; one stepdaughter: Babs Hughes Bloom of DeRidder; nine grandchildren: Travis, Dennis, Kenneth, Tawnya, Joel, Melissa, Stephen, Renee, and Nicole; nine great grandchildren: Karlee, Treavor, Tanner, Jaydon, Shyla, Destin, Mica, Jaci, and Paris; two step grandchildren: Anthony and Sarah Bloom; and one step great-grandson: Noah Bloom.

Mr. Connor is also survived by two sisters: Mary Joe New of Lafayette and Claudia Machen McBride of Winnfield and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 26, 2009 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Winnfield with President Terry Randle, Bishop Loy Gaar, and Dr. Jerold McBride officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Winnfield under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.

Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday at the church from 12:00 p.m., until time of services.

Pallbearers will be: Stephen Connor, Mike Machen, Matt Machen, Mark Machen, James Miller, Donnie Gunter, Anthony Bloom, and Robert Hand. Honorary pallbearers will be James H. “Bubba” Smith, Lonnie Bramlett, Ronnie Taylor, Matt Jordan, Robert Taylor, and James Johnson.
