Lester Langston Guice Sr.

SICILY ISLAND, La. -- Services for Lester Langston Guice Sr., 71, of Sicily Island, who died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, in Alexandria, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Pine Hill Baptist Chruch in Sicily Island, with the Revs. Roy Archer and Lawrence Haley officiating.

Burial will be at Highland Park Cemetery in Sicily Island under the direction of Comer Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. today until service time Monday.

Mr. Guice was born Aug. 14, 1929, in Sicily Island, the son of John F. and Mary Jane L. Guice. He was a retired pipefitter with International Paper Co. and a member of Pine Hill Baptist Church. He was a lifelong resident of Sicily Island and a veteran of the U.S. Army who served in the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Guice was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Woody Guice.

Survivors include his wife, Goldie E. Guice of Sicily Island; one son, Lester L. ``Son'' Guice of Jonesville; two daughters, George Ann Farmer and Jan Guice, both of Sicily Island; three brothers, Friley Guice of Hammon, Heard Guice of Baton Rouge, and Loma Guice of Sicily Island; two sisters, Murrell Wells of Sicily Island and Eloise Monroe of Ruston; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jon Keith Guice, Todd Guice, Kenneth Monroe, Joe Wells, Sidney Eubanks and Justin Eubanks.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bruce Edmonds, Keith Guice, Joe McGeem, Carroll Barron, Ronnie Cole, Jack Kerrigan and Floyd Cole.
