Lester Lee Goodson, an employee with Tidewater Oil Co. in Martinez 20 years, died Wednesday at his home in Martinez. He was 73.

The native of Sikes, La., lived in Martinez 48 years. He served in the Army during World War II and received the Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon with one Bronze Star and the , Philippine Liberation Campaign Ribbon with one Bronze Star. , Good Conduct Medal, Victory Ribbon, Army of Occupation Ribbon, and two overseas service bars. He retired from Tidewater in the late 1960's1960s as an electrician. He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose in Redding and Church of God, Martinez. He enjoyed fishing for salmon in the Redding area.

He is survived by his daughters, Stella Makocki of Saginaw, Mich., and Marilyn Vicars of Martinez; brothers, Ray Goodson of Monroe, La., and Simon Goodson of Loveland, Mont. [sic Colo.]; sisters, Margie Gray of Grass Valley, Joann Smith of Fontana and Rachel Stillwagon of San Diego; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. His wife, Gertrude May Goodson, died in August 1981.

Services: 10 a.m. Monday, Connolly & Taylor Chapel, Martinez. Visitation, 3 to 5 p.m. today and Sunday at the mortuary. Burial, Memory Gardens Cemetery, Concord.
