Lewis Holmes
Funeral services for Lewis M. Holmes, 58, of Grayson were held at 4 p.m. Thursday in Grayson Baptist Church with the Rev. David Hudnall and the Rev. Oscar Bradford officiating.
Burial was in Welcome Home Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites. Burial was under the direction of Riser & Son Funeral Home of Columbia.
Mr. Holmes died Tuesday morning on a tug boat on the Mississippi River at Baton Rouge after an apparent heart attack. He was employed by Canal Barge Co.
A member of Clarks Lodge No. 382, Mr. Holmes was a 32nd degree mason of the Monroe Consistory and a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Jimmie Prudhomme Holmes of Grayson; three sons, Lynn, Gary and Micheal [sic Michael] Holmes, all of Grayson; a daughter, Miss Lisa Holmes of Grayson; a brother, Alfred Holmes of Tallulah; seven sisters, Mrs. Eula Waggoner of Grayson, Mrs. Cleora Cassells and Mrs. Roberta Poole, both of Rosefield, Mrs. Ira Cassells and Mrs. Eunice Douglas, both of Jonesville, Mrs. Lola Gough of Enterprise and Mrs. Rowena Adams of Tallulah.
