Louis Williams
Louis Henry Williams, 85, former vice president of Merchiston-Hall Galleries at Biloxi, died Monday night at Howard Memorial Hospital, where he had been hospitalized six days.
Mr. Williams, formerly of 116 Collins St., Biloxi, had been an Ocean Springs resident the past year.
Born in Harrison County, he was a retired accountant.
Mr. Williams was a member of First Baptist Church of Biloxi and chairman of the building committee. He was the last survivor of that committee and a life deacon of First Baptist.
From 1911-1941, Mr. Williams worked for Gay-Tammill Turpentine Company at Ocean Springs. He was also a deputy clerk for chancery court at Gulfport.
Mr. Williams was a graduate of Wiggins High School and one of his professors was Theodore Bilbo. He also attended a business college.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Philip (Anne) Kempkes of Ocean Springs; and two grandchildren.
Funeral rites will be held 2 p.m. Thursday from First Baptist Church of Biloxi. The Rev. Frank Gunn, pastor, will officiate at the service. Interment will be in Wiggins cemetery.
The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. Thursday.
Friends may call at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Biloxi after 6 p.m. Wednesday.
