LILLIE RAE MORRIS
LILLIE RAE MORRIS passed away peacefully on Saturday, the 30th of October 2010, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
She was born in Jacksonville, Texas, on the 6th of October 1927. Upon graduation from high school, she relocated to Houston, Texas to pursue her degree in nursing. She received her training at Methodist Hospital. In Houston, she met Ray Morris Jr. to whom she was married for 56 years.
She spent a career as a private duty registered nurse balancing time between work and family. She loved working in the yard in her past time. Later in life, she was a member of the Mayflower Society.
She is survived by her husband, Ray Morris Jr. of Houston; son, Dr. Ray Morris III of Layton, Utah; daughter, Suzanne Strong of Rockwall, Texas; and three wonderful grandsons. She is also survived by two sisters, Pansy Conner of Jacksonville, Texas and Violet Lewis of Houston, Texas, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Billy Joe Hawthorne of Jacksonville, Texas; a brother-in-law, Doyle Conner; and a niece, Vanessa Chapman.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six until eight o'clock in the evening on Friday, the 12th of November, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
The Funeral Service is to be conducted at ten o'clock in the morning on Saturday, the 13th of November, also in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, where Pastor Jeff Berger of Westbury Baptist Church is to officiate.
The interment is to follow, via an escorted cortege, at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston.
