Linda Elese Bateman
Linda Elese Bateman, 73, of Natchez, died Aug. 3, 2003, at her residence.
Services are 3 p.m. today at Church of God of Prophecy in Natchez with the Rev. Grady Fulton officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Natchez with Laird Funeral Home in Natchez in charge.
Mrs. Bateman was born Feb. 28, 1930, in Amite County. She was the daughter of Hoyte Vardaman and Margaret Ustane Steele Whittington.
She was retired from Diamond International and was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.
Mrs. Bateman was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Melanie Denise Bateman.
Survivors include her husband, Clifton Excell Bateman of Natchez; two sons, Ricky D. and Clifton M. Bateman, both of Natchez; one granddaughter, Reneé Bateman of Natchez; one great-granddaughter, Saige Caviness of Natchez; one brother, Harvey Whittington of Gloster; and five sisters, Dossie Spillman, Flossie Bateman, Alverine Coleman and Gussie Stokes, all of Gloster, and Sara McNab of Montpelier, La.
Pallbearers are Brent Bateman, Wayne Havard, Darrel Bateman, Billy Coleman, Warren Holland and Clark Burkett.
