LINUS WHITTINGTON

Funeral services were held Monday, February 25, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Gloster for Linus Whittington, 81, of Gloster. Rev. Keith Zachary officiated. Burial was in Roseland Cemetery in Gloster.

Mr. Whittington passed away Thursday, February 21, 2013, at his home.

Born March 19, 1931, in Amite County, Mr. Whittington was the son of Pearl and Myrtis Bass Whittington, both deceased.

Mr. Whittington was an electrician and operated a heat and air conditioning company for many years. His last years, he drove a truck for Herring Gas. He was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Whittington was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Whittington; son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Kim Whittington; daughter, Remonda Kay Whittington; grandsons, Jason Haley and Dustin Whittington; three brothers, Gordie, Richard and Virgil Whittington; and two sisters, Virgie and Thelma Etheridge.

Mr. Whittington leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Bonnie Whittington; a daughter and son-in-law, Pam and James Haley; two grandchildren, Brandon Haley and wife Megan of Baton Rouge and Christian Haley; two step-grandchildren, Tim Vance and wife Kay of Forrest and Paul Vance and wife Barbara of Redwood; two brothers, Robert Whittington of Baton Rouge and Harrell Whittington and wife Sue of Greenville, South Carolina; a sister, Frances Mitchell of Gloster; and numerous nieces and nephews.
