Funeral Rites Held At Marquez For Mrs. Barkley

Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church of Marquez Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock for Mrs. Rich (Lizzie) Barkley, 85, a longtime resident of Marquez who died in a Hearne hospital Wednesday.

The services were conducted by the Rev. Walter C. Rosier Jr.,pastor of the First Baptist Church of Marquez. Burial was in the Marquez cemetery with the Riddle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Marquez was born at Marquez on Dec. 4, 1880 and lived there most of her life. She was a Baptist.

Survivors include three sons, Louis Barkley, of Midland; Herman Barkley, of San Antonio, and Maxwell Barkley, of Hearne; four daughters, Mrs. Mary Jo Covington, of Alvord; Mrs. B. J. Piwetz, of Arlington; Mrs. J. E. Groce, of San Antonio, and Mrs. L. J. Nash, of Nederland; 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
