Mrs. Lizzie Grant Rhodes Dies

Mrs. Lizzie Grant Rhodes, 83, of Route 1, Four Oaks, died in Johnston Memorial Hospital Monday morning at 5:35 after a lingering illness.

She was the widow of John L. Rhodes of Route 1, Four Oaks, and a daughter of the late Benjamin and Appie Lee Grant of Johnston County.

A funeral service has been scheduled to be conducted this (Tuesday) afternoon at 3 o'clock at Stewart Chapel Free Will Baptist Church on Route 1, Four Oaks, of which she was a member. Scheduled to officiate were the Rev. C. S. Johnson, a former pastor, assisted by the Rev. W. O. Henderson of Faison and the Rev. Rustin Creech, her pastor. Burial was set to follow in Antioch Methodist Church Cemetery on Route 2, Four Oaks. The body will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the service. Grandsons were selected to serve as pallbearers with granddaughters serving as flower bearers.

Surviving are one son, William A. Rhodes of Route 1, Four Oaks; two daughters, Mrs. Sim Johnson of Four Oaks and Mrs. J. E. Holley of Smithfield; one stepdaughter, Mrs. J. P. Holley of Four Oaks; two stepsons, J. R. Rhodes of Route 1, Four Oaks and C. R. Rhodes of Goldsboro; one brother, Jesse Grant of Route 2, Smithfield; one sister, Mrs. P. D. Thompson of Four Oaks; and 10 grandchildren.
