Lois Savell Whittaker

SHREVEPORT, LA - Services for Lois Savell Whittaker, age 83, will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 30, 1996, at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Jerry Gill, Former Pastor of Lakeshore Baptist Church. Burial will be at Forest Park West.

Funeral home visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, at the funeral home.

She died at 10:00 p.m., on Saturday, April 27, 1996, at Schumpert Medical Center, after a brief illness.

Mrs. Whittaker was a native of Sabine Parish, LA, a former resident of Leesville, LA, and a resident of Shreveport, LA for 35 years. Mrs. Whittaker was a member of the First Baptist Church of Shreveport, and a past member of Gloster Baptist Church and Willow Point Baptist Church. She was a homemaker. She will be remembered by her family as a good Christian mother, and as a fun grandma who spent many years with her grandchildren walking in the country woods, swimming and playing games.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Franklin Whittaker; three infant children; and a great grandson, Stephen W. Schurman, II.

She is survived by three daughters: Gwen Howard and husband, Derrell of Shreveport, LA; Dorothy LaGrone and husband, Lynn of Deadwood, TX; Shirley Miller and husband, Tom of Alpharetta, GA; seven grandchildren; Judy H. Schurman Seay, Marlene LaGrone, and Lynnette LaGrone, all of Shreveport, LA; Kevin LaGrone of Beaumont, TX; Linda Howard of Dallas, TX; Doug Miller of Alpharetta, GA; and Sheri M. Neiman of Atlanta, GA; four great grandchildren: Rachel and Sarah Schurman of Shreveport, LA, and Jodi and Jessica LaGrone of Beaumont, TX.

Pallbearers will be Steve Seay, Kevin LaGrone, Doug Miller, Bruce Neiman, Jimmy Raye, and Kenneth Martin.

The family wishes to thank the staff and services of Dr. Charles Nash, Dr. Scott Mighell, and Dr. Russell Roberts.
