Lola Busby

Funeral services for Lola Busby, 88, Winnsboro were held Monday at Winnsboro First National Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Lee Busby officiating.

Interment followed at Crowville Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Winnsboro First National Funeral Home.

Mrs. Busby died Saturday at North Monroe Hospital.

Mrs. Busby taught in elementay school at Gilbert High School from 1952 through 1968. Prior to that she taught at Crowville High School.

She got her Teachers Certificate from Louisiana Normal School in Natchitoches. She received her Bachelors Degree in Education in 1953 in the first summer graduating class after Northeast Louisiana State College became a four year college.

She was active in the Louisiana Retired Teachers Association and the Franklin Parish Hospital Auxiliary. She was an active and longtime member of Chase Baptist Church where she taught a Sunday School Class and was a member of the WMU.

Survivors include her husband, Otto Busby, Winnsboro; two daughters, Jane Busby Corder, Monroe; and Doris Marshall, Sunnyvale, Texas; one son, William O. Busby, Jonesboro; two sisters, Monie Turner and Candice Blasengame, both of Monroe; two brothers, Luther Walters and Quitman Walters, both of Crowville; seven grandsons; Billy, Charles, David and Eric Busby; Byron Corder; Adam and Luke Marshall.

Pallbearers were Billy Busby, Charles Busby, Eric Busby, David Busby, Byron Corder and Ron Marshall.

Memorials may be made to the Franklin Parish Hospital Auxiliary, Louisiana Baptist Children's Home in Monroe, or Monroe District Nurses Association Scholarship Fund at NLU Foundation.
