The body of Lonnie F. Morse, who was killed in the battle of St. Mihiel on the 12th day of September 1918, reached here from France Saturday, Oct. 2_. The remains were carried to the home of his brother and kept over night. The casket was opened Sunday and the remains were viewed by a number of his relatives and friends, after which they were carried to River Bend and interred in the Pratt graveyard.

Mr. Morse was a member of Company F, 329.h Infantry. Mr. B. H. Gartlin of this place was a member of the same company and was present when the deceased was killed and says he was hit by a piece of shrapnel, dying immediately. The body was laid to rest on the banks of the Moselle River until disinterred to be sent home. He was a good boy and a brave soldier.

A large crowd was at the house and attended the funeral, showing respect to his memory. The casket was draped with a United States flag, and was accompanied here by a soldier. There was a delay in Atlanta, Ga., on account of a wreck and the patriotic organizations there found it out and sent an evergreen offering with cards of sympathy to the heartbroken mother which she greatly appreciated.

Rev. Sam Henderson conducted the funeral services at the grave. A number of beautiful floral tributes were sent by sympathetic and patriotic citizens here.
