Funeral: 1 p.m. Monday at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi.
BILOXI -- Loretta McCarty James, 83, died Thursday, July 12, 2001, in Biloxi.
Mrs. James was born in Louin, MS and had been a resident of the coast for the past 50 years. She owned Jody's Cafe for many years in Biloxi and was involved in the restaurant business throughout her life while on the coast. Mrs. James was a Methodist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George A. James; a son, Milton Ray ``Mit'' James; her parents, Walter and May Belle McCarty; two sisters, Anastasia McCarty and Izetta Noel; and two brothers, Walter McCarty Jr. and Eric Vonsil McCarty.
Survivors include a daughter, Cathy Guthrie and her husband Toby of Biloxi; a daughter-in-law, Janie Kyle James of Jackson, MS; a son, Myron James of Biloxi; two sisters, Oneta [sic Oneita] Cook of Jackson, MS, Evetta ``Jimmie'' Schifano of Ocean Springs; two brothers, Alfred McCarty of Jasper County, MS, Horace ``Red'' McCarty of Baton Rouge, LA; six grandchildren, Jennifer James of Shreveport, Julianna James Stutzman of Dallas, Anjanette Guthrie Gray, Monica Rey James, Michelle Rene James and Travis Scott James, all of Biloxi; and four great-grandchildren, David Gray, II, Kaitlyn Gray and Victoria Elizabeth Johnson, all of Biloxi and Shea Stutzman of Dallas, Texas.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, July 16, 2001, at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi where friends may call one hour before service time. Burial will be in Southern Memorial Park.
