Lottie Smithey Bass

BOSSIER CITY, LA - Funeral services celebrating the life of Lottie Smithey Bass, 92, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Dr. Tom Harrison. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Heard Cemetery in Manifest, LA. Visitation will be at the funeral home Friday, October 10, 2008 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Lottie was born September 23, 1916 in Sibley, LA to Ollie Joshua and Arie Permelia Smithey. She passed away on October 7, 2008 in Shreveport, LA. Lottie was a resident of Bossier City and a retired seamstress. She was a member of Jonesville Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Hearse Bass and her parents; daughter, Frances Knox; six brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son-in-law, John W. Knox; brother, Walter Edward Smithey and wife Patricia; grandchildren, Shonda Knox Batts and husband Kevin; great-grandchildren, Keegan and Spencer Batts, several nieces and nephews.

The family extends special thanks to Dr. Wen Liu, nurse practitioner, Kelly Novak, and Dr. Bob Martin. Special appreciation is extended to Shonda Batts' friends and co-workers at the VA Medical Center.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
