Lou Gates

Funeral services for Lou Gates were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 2, 2001 in the First Baptist Church, Winnfield, LA with Dr. Calvin Phelps officiating. Burial was in Garden of Memories, Winnfield, LA under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gates, age 90 of Winnfield, LA died Friday, Aug. 31 in the Winn Parish Medical Center in Winnfield, LA. She was born in DeRidder, LA, was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church and also a member of the WMU and Tri L SS Class.

Survivors are one daughter, Reggie Lou Straughn and her husband Tommy of Winnfield, LA; three grandchildren, Stacey Gardner, Susan Carter and Steve Straughn; and four great grandchildren, Brittany Hemphill, Lance Gardner, Kyler Carter and Andrew Thomas Straughan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Reggie V. Gates.

Pallbearers were: John Holland, Benny Smith, Lynn Bankston, Lamar Tarver, Mickey Simmons and Norris Bailey.

Honorary pallbearer was Don Walsh.
