LOUDEEN MARGARET HAYDON DOBIE
Loudeen was born November 9, 1925 at home in Dripping Springs, Texas to Charlie and Beulah Haydon. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at Argent Courts Assisted Living in Bastrop Texas on May 21, 2012. She was the fifth of seven children.
After graduating from high school in Dripping Springs, she married Lewis Thomas Dobie, Jr. of Driftwood on April 2, 1942. They were married until December 25, 2001, when Lewis passed away. She was the BEST grandmother ever. She wanted her 3 grandkids to accompany her and Lewis to their lake house every weekend possible. The grandkids learned to love her home cooking, especially fresh fish and chicken fried venison. The kids could convince her to buy them clothes and footwear that their parents refused to buy. Will, Amber, and Adam had a loving relationship with her even as adults. Affectionately known to many as “Toad,” she loved to laugh, be teased, and play games. She will always be remembered for her amazing spirit of generosity.
Lou never met a stranger and was loved and cherished not only by her family, but by her many friends and acquaintances. Loudeen worked for Tracor from 1965 to 1988. After retirement she devoted her full time to her family. She enjoyed visiting her nephew's ranch (Joe Dobie Jr.) in San Saba, and she went on her last deer hunt at age 83. She also had a special relationship with her step grand daughter, Ruth Bradfield and Ruth's 3 girls. Loudeen was raised in the Baptist church at Dripping Springs, but for the past 20 years enjoyed going to the Lutheran Church with her son and daughter-in-law where she is now missed by many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister (Ottie Mixon), and a beloved niece (Beverly Schirmacher).
Her survivors include her son, William Lewis Dobie and his wife, Cindy. Also her grandchildren, Amber Till (Mark) of San Antonio, Dr. Will Dobie of McGregor, and Adam Scott Dobie of Cedar Creek, Texas. She is missed by her 5 great grandsons and 5 great grand daughters. She is also survived by brothers Alva Haydon (Willie Mae), Charlie Neal Haydon (Betty); sisters Nina Conn (Jaime), Mildred MacGregor (Donald), and Nancy Foster (Clarence). She is survived by 5 nieces and 7 nephews.
Loudeen spent the last years of her life at Argent Court, and we would like to thank the staff of that facility for their special loving care that was provided. Also a special thanks to Resolutions Hospice personnel for their care and compassion in her last days. Thanks to Dr. Douglas Salmon and his staff for all the loving care shown through the years.
Burial was at the Wimberley Cemetery and next to Lewis in the Dobie section. A memorial service for the family will be held at a later date.
