Mrs. D. M. Stovall Succumbs; Buried In Shreveport

Funeral services for Mrs. Dennis M. Stovall, 74, of Shreveport, who died February 14, were held at 2 p.m. February 15, in Cedar Grove Methodist Church with burial following in Forest Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Stovall was the former Miss Louella Gaar, member of a pioneer Winn Parish family. She was born at Gaars Mill, and had lived at Dodson and Sikes until she moved to Shreveport 28 years ago.

Survivors include four sons, D. M. Stovall, Jr., Karl Stovall, and John Stovall, all of Carthage, Texas, and the Rev. James L. Stovall, Lake Charles; five daughters, Mrs. J. Curtis Prince, Mrs. J. R. Fouts, Sr., Mrs. Melfin Finus, and Mrs. R. A. Ferguson, Jr., all of Shreveport, and Mrs. Alvin McCarty, Rayville; three sisters, Mrs. Maggie Sanders, Ruston, Mrs. Della Payne and Miss Zella Gaar, both of Dodson; 28 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Mrs. Stovall's Rites Held In Shreveport

Prominent in Church Life of Her Community

Funeral services for Mrs. D. M. Stovall Sr. of Shreveport, [illegible] were held at 2 p.m. February 15, in Cedar Grove Methodist Church... Shreveport...

[Illegible] .. about... Mrs. Stovall was born in Gaar's Mill, La.

[Illegible] pastor of the South Baton Rouge Methodist church and the Rev. James T. [Harris?], pastor of the Broadmoor Methodist church officiated at the service. Burial was in Forest Park cemetery.

Survivors include four sons, D. M. Stovall Jr., Karl Stovall and John, all of Carthage, Texas, and the Rev. James L. Stovall, Lake Charles; five daughters, Mrs. J. C. Prince, Mrs. J. R. Fouts Sr., Mrs. Melvin Finuf, and Mrs. R. A. Ferguson Jr., all of Shreveport, and Mrs. Alvin McCarty, Rayville; three sisters, Mrs. Maggie Sanders, Ruston, Mrs. Della Payne and Miss Zella Gaar, both of Dodson; 23 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Steve Stovall, David McCarty, James [illegible], Paul Prince, [Danny?] McCarty, Buster [illegible], Chuck Prince and Johnny Stovall, all grandsons of Mrs. Stovall.
