TURNER, Louid J.

SULPHUR -- Funeral services for Louid Jack Turner, 87, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 23, in Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Danny Busby will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation is 8-10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. on Friday.

Mr. Turner died Tuesday, June 20, 2000, in a Lake Charles hospital. He was a 54-year member of Masonic Lodge 454. He was a Scottish Rite Mason and a Shriner. He retired from Firestone after 38 years and was a longtime owner of Turner's Garage. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church for 40 years.

Survivors include his wife, Gertrude M. Turner of Sulphur; five sons, Charles Turner and Glenn Turner, both of Houston, Jack Turner, David Turner and Louis Turner, all of Sulphur; three daughters, Margaret Chain of Mississippi, Linda D. Wetteman of Carlyss and Pat Verrett of Lake Charles; one stepdaughter, Joella Gassiott of Port Neches, Texas; one brother, Alton Turner of Sulphur; two sisters, Yvonne Strange and Margie Nell O'Banion, both of Oakdale; 29 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
