L.G. Thomas, Jr.

Sulphur - Funeral services for L.G. Thomas, Jr., 67, will be at 2 p.m.Friday, May 22 in Olivet Baptist Church. The Revs. Vernon Chevallier Charles Benner and Mark Broussard will officiate. Burial will be in Farquhar Cemetery under direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation is from 6 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. Thurday in the funeral home, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m., and from 11 a.m. Friday in the church.

Mr. Thomas died at 2 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, 1998 in a Lake Charles hospital. A native of Shreveport, he was a resident of Sulphur for 55 years, a graduate of Sulphur High School and a retired supervisor from Himont, U.S.A. He was a Charter member of Olivet Baptist Church where he served many years as a deacon, adult department director, and a member of various church committees. He was the Worshipful Master of Sulphur Masonic Lodge No. 424 F&AM; was a member of the 32nd Scottish Rite Masons; and served as the Habibi Shriner's Colonel of Units Emeritus, chief engineer of the Train Unit and member of the Ceremonial Degree Team.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Perkins Thomas; two sons, David Ray Thomas and Kenneth Lynn Thomas both of Sulphur; one daughter, Mrs. Kinzey (Kathi T.) Reeves of Baton Rouge; two sisters, Mary Grace Worrell of Dayton, TX and Yvonne Mittag of Chester, TX; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Thomas, Sr. of Sulphur; and six grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Olivet Baptist Church in Sulphur, Mason Lodge No. 424, the Habibi Shriners or the American Cancer Society.
