Louis Keith Ford
SHREVEPORT, LA - On Saturday, July 1, 2006, God welcomed home Louis Keith Ford. Mr. Ford, age 90, was born December 21, 1915. Funeral services for Mr. Ford will be held at Rose-Neath's Marshall Street Chapel Wednesday, July 5, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. Reverend Tom Logan of Christ United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Michael Farrar, Douglas Farrar, Joel Meece and Darrell Cline; and nephews, Paul Strickland and Gary Strickland.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 4, 2006. Mr. Ford was a member of Mangum Memorial Methodist Church. A self made man, he served with the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC Camp), was a former member of the Kiwanis Club, Rotary Fellowship Club, Masons, El Karubah Temple, and was an originator of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America and the Good Sam Traveling Club.
Mr. Ford joined Pioneer Bank in 1955 at the Southside Branch. In 1957, he was promoted toVice President and retired in 1978.
Preceding him were his wife of 62 years, Mercedes Ford, and his first wife of one year, Nelwyn Ford. Also, preceding him were his parents, infant brother, Richard, brothers, Cecil and Kent, and sister, Floy.
Two daughters, Sandra Farrar and husband, Jim of Houston, TX; and Sharon Meece of Shreveport, LA, survive Mr. Ford. Also, surviving him are four grandchildren, Michael Farrar and Douglas Farrar, of Houston, TX; Teri Meece Cline and husband, Darrell, of Wylie, TX; and Joel Meece of Shreveport, LA., and four great-grandchildren, Nathan, Daniel, Jacob, and Emily Cline. Sisters-in-law, Virgie Strickland, Helen Ford and Jo Ford, and brother-in-law, Lee Crenshaw also survive him.
Mr. Ford's two daughters would like to thank Doctors James Jackson, Randy White, and P.V. Blanchard; also, the Southwest Shreveport Dialysis Clinic for keeping their daddy healthy. Sandra and Sharon would especially like to thank his caregivers, Cheralean Pouncy, Alma Walker, Ella Hart, and Pamela Bell for the wonderful care they gave and the kindness they showed their father.
