BENTON, LA -- Funeral services for Louis M. Taylor, age 73, will be held at First Baptist Church of Haughton at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2002. Officiating at the service will be Bro. Billy Pierce, assisted by Bro. Melton Prothro. Graveside services will be held at Beech Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Winn Parish at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will be at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home today from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday at the church from 8:30 a.m. until service time.
Mr. Taylor passed away June 2, 2002 at 6:05 a.m. after a brief illness. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved to hunt and fish. He was a native of Tullos, LA, served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and later retired from Cities Service Petroleum Co.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.A. ``Shorty'' and Velma Taylor of Tullos; son, James W. Taylor of Haughton; and in-laws, Wiston and Minnie McCarty of Winn Parish.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Beryl Taylor of Benton, LA; son Gary W. Taylor and wife Karlene of Olla, LA; daughters Diann Mitchell and husband Dave of Haughton, LA, Brenda Norton and husband Howard of Benton, LA; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Pallbearers will be David Mitchell, Dustin Norton, Colby Taylor, Jim Harrison, Rodney Broadway and Manny Guendulay. Honorary pallbearer will be Travis Smith.
The family would like to thank Dr. Charles Powers as well as other physicians and staff of Willis-Knighton Bossier. They would also like to thank Northwest Regional Hospice staff for their loving care during his final days with us.
