Services for Mr. Louis Wesley Rolen, SFC U.S. Army Retired, age 77, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, February 3, 2004 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in West Monroe, LA with Rev. Peyton Bass officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery, Calhoun, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA.

Mr. Rolen completed his earthly journey on January 31, 2004 at the VA Hospital in Shreveport, LA. He is survived by his wife, Sybil J. Rolen of West Monroe; son and daughter-in-law, the Reverend Dr. Charles L. and Linda Rolen of Griffin, GA; sister, Elaine Rolen of Denham Springs, LA; aunt, Bertha Bratton, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Alma Rolen; wife, Lorenia Dickie Rolen and brothers, James, David, Herman, and Robert Rolen.

Mr. Rolen was a career soldier who served his country with bravery and honor for 26 years. He was a decorated veteran of WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He was also a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars (VFW), Post 1809 and Disabled American Veterans (DAV), JH McClendon 8. He was born in Winnfield and though he traveled the world in the Army, he always loved the fertile soil, cotton fields, lakes and wildlife of his Louisiana home. He loved his family, home, catching fish and his dog Penny with joy and passion.

Pallbearers will be Mike Rolen, Bobby Rolen, Harvey Rolen, Sean Aplin, Royce Young, and Curtis McDill. Visitation will be at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe, Monday, February 2, 2004 from 5-8 PM.
