Louise Freeman Sistrunk
(March 1, 1932 - January 30, 2016)

Louise Freeman Sistrunk, 83, of Summit, passed away, Saturday, January 30, 2016 at her residence.

She was born March 1, 1932 in Summit. She was the daughter of Hosie and Lizzie Freeman.

She was a member of Montgomery Baptist Church and was retired from Kellwood Company and worked numerous years at American Box Factory in Fernwood. Mrs. Sistrunk was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed working in her yard and garden and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was an avid Nascar fan and her favorite driver was Jimmy Johnson. She loved Elvis music, watching her favorite NFL team, the New Orleans Saints and her favorite NBA team, the San Antonio Spurs.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hewitt Sistrunk; a grandson, Bradley Love; two brothers, Homer T. Freeman and Nelson Freeman and three sisters, Virginia Worley, Louree Freeman and Delphine Freeman.

She is survived by her three daughters and two sons-in-law, Jeanie and Ted Woodall of Byram, Vickie Edwards of Florence and Brenda and Tommy Burris of Smithdale; two sisters, Kathleen Chunn and Nell Cox, both of Summit; four grandsons, Shane Woodall and wife, Liz, Damon Edwards and wife, Stacey, Ryan Love and wife, Ashley and Jeffrey Woodall; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Mike McGuffee.

The family would like a special thank you to Dr. Dalati, the fourth floor nurses at SWMRC, Dr. Smithie and the nurses and aides of Hospice Compassus.

Visitation is Monday at Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit from 5PM until 8PM. Rev. Burnette Carraway will share words of comfort. Burial will be in Hollywood cemetery.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to a veterans foundation or association of your choosing.
