Louise Maddox Blakeney, 82, a lifelong resident of Smith County, passed away Tuesday, February 9th, after a long illness. Visitation is Friday, February 11th from 5-8 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Raleigh. Services are Saturday, February 12th at Union Baptist Church in Raleigh.

She was born January 13th, 1923 to Harry and Betty Maddox of Raleigh. Mrs. Blakeney was married to Uel Blakeney, also of Raleigh. Together they operated a bridge construction company for many years.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Uel, her parents, and one sister, Myrtis Waller formerly of Huntsville, Alabama.

She is survived by five daughters, Marilyn Bray and husband Steve of Byram; Miriam Ethridge and husband Dr. Heber Ethridge of Madison; Lucy Tullos and husband Bobby of Braxton; Harriet Lamkin and husband Bill of Braxton and Meg Wallace and husband Dr. Mickey Wallace of Madison. She also leaves seven grandchildren, Alden Cranford, Barri Cranford, Ryan Wallace, Matthew Wallace, Steven Bray and wife Katie, Blakeney Bray Smith and husband Michael and Jill Bryant Panter and husband Jeff. She also leaves one great-granddaughter, Landon Olivia Panter of San Francisco.
