Vernon Woman Dies in Accident

(Special to The Town Talk)

LEESVILLE, La. -- Mrs. Billy Zane Davis, the former Louise Snell, 25, of Route 1, Evans, was killed at 8 a.m. Wednesday when her car collided with a school bus on La. Hwy 111 about 1/2 mile from her home.

According to investigating officers, Mrs. Davis was taking her six-year-old daughter, Sheryl Ann Carver, to school and crossed the center line and crashed head-on into the school bus. The bus had just discharged its load of children at the Evans school, according to Eddie Nash, the 63-year-old driver.

Mrs. Davis and her daughter were thrown from the car. The child received apparently minor injuries. She was not hospitalized. Nash was unhurt in the mishap.

Funeral services for Mrs. Davis will be held at 4 p.m. today in Oak Grove Baptist church at Hornbeck with Rev. Hall Prewitt and Rev. Wayne Reed officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery under direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Leesville.

She is also survived by her husband; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Snell of Hornbeck; a sister, Mrs. Doris Phillips of Anacoco; and two brothers, Jessie Downs of Leesville and Richard E. Snell of Hornbeck.
