Louise Kuehne Francis

HEMLOCK/WAYLAND

Louise Kuehne Francis, 79, passed away at her home in Livonia late Friday night, Jan. 12, 2007.

Louise was born Sept. 17, 1927, in Jackson, Miss., the daughter of Joseph and Mattie (Seale) Traxler. She grew up in Mississippi and graduated from high school there. Subsequent to high school, she lived in different areas of the country including Dallas, Texas, and California. While in California, she met the love of her life, Albert Kuehne, and married him in November 1960.

Louise and Albert moved to Fairbanks, Alaska, and began a homesteading career that lasted 7 1/2 years. During the early 1970s, they moved to the Springwater area. They also spent more than 20 years in Wayland. After 21 years of marriage, Albert passed away in March 1981. Louise remained in Wayland and met and eventually wed Roy Francis. They moved to Hemlock and enjoyed more than 20 years of companionship prior to his passing away in March 2003.

Throughout the years, Louise was employed as a waitress at many different restaurants. She also worked at Sears in California and was employed by Emerson Rittenhouse in Honeoye Falls. Her hobbies included singing in the Ambas-sadors, which traveled to nursing homes cheering up the residents. She loved gardening and getting her hands in the dirt whether it was for flowers or vegetables. She also enjoyed canning, baking 'homemade' bread at Christmas, and reading romance novels. However, Louise's favorite time was spent with her granddaughter Chelsea Warren. She was very close to her and will truly be missed.

Louise is survived by her daughter Cynthia (Michael) Sulkowski of Livonia and her son Randy (Janet) Bedson of Bonita Springs, Fla.; her grandchildren Chelsea Warren of Webster and Brooke (Mick) Wilbur of Dallas, Ga.; and many other family members including stepchildren, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

Louise's funeral service was at 1 p.m. Monday at the Hemlock United Methodist Church, Main Street, Hemlock. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at Lakeside, Cemetery, Wayland. Louise's family was assisted by the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland.
