Mrs. Louraine Bullock, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Risinger, and widow
of the late W. P. Bullock of the Steep Hollow community,
who was brought to the Bryan Hospital for special treatment on
Thursday, passed away Saturday morning, February 24th, at 11:15
o'clock. Her condition was considered serious when she was brought
to Bryan and the attending physicians at the hospital held out little
hope for her recovery at that time, but all that human skill and
nursing could do was done to relieve the sufferer, until the hour of
her death at the time stated. The passing of this christian woman
is a distinct loss, not only to her family but to a host of friends and
neighbors, and the community in which she lived. Since the days of her
early married life Mrs. Bullock has lived in Brazos county, and during
all those years she has been an inspiration for good and righteousness,
and a helper for the better and higher things of life.
Thirteen surviving children.
Deceased was born in Woodville, Tyler county in 1864, and came
with her parents to live in Brazos county early in 1870. She was a
lifelong member of the Missionary Baptist church, and exemplified the faith
of her religion in her every-day life. The home of Mr. and Mrs. W. P.
Bullock was ever one of the prominent homes of Brazos county, where
they reared their noble sons and daughters, in the ``fear and admonition
of the Lord''. Fifteen children were born to them, thirteen of whom are
still living as follows, W. Jesse Bullock, Houston; Lummie Bullock,
Brazos Bottom; Mrs. C. P. Powers, Steep Hollow; Edgar Bullock, Houston;
Mrs. O. O. Crenshaw, Mrs. L. D. Smith, and Clarence Bullock, College Station;
S. M. Bullock, Reliance; Mrs. Claud Cloud, Goose Creek; Horace, Curtis,
Myrtie and Gladys Bullock, who still live at the old home
at Steep Hollow. Effie and Icy Bullock died years ago.
Funeral Sunday Afternoon.
Deceased is also survived by three sisters, and three brothers:
Mrs. Fred Thompson, Madisonville; Mrs. J. E. Bullock and Mrs. I. J.
Hollogan, Steep Hollow and Brazos County Commissioner C. W. Risinger,
and Columbus Risinger of Steep Hollow and George Risinger of Floydada,
Texas. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon from the family home
at Steep Hollow, with interment in the Steep Hollow cemetery. The exact
hour for the funeral services has not yet been determined but it will
be sometime Sunday afternoon.
