LOUVICA DAVIS

Graveside services for Miss Louvica Davis will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2012, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Auburn, AL. The Rev. James C. Pappas III will officiate.

Miss Davis, age 85, who was born November 10, 1927, died on December 27, 2012, at Salem Nursing Home in Tuskegee, AL.

She is preceded in death by her father, Reuben Grady Davis, and her mother, Helen Dick Davis.

She is survived by her brother, Nicholas D. Davis and wife Carolyn, of Auburn; her niece, Jennifer Davis Michael and husband James C. Pappas III, and their son James C. Pappas IV, all of Sewanee, TN; nephew Nathan D. Davis and wife Sylvia, of New York City; and numerous cousins and friends.

Miss Davis spent the first half of her life in the towns of Carter and Yazoo City, moving to Auburn in 1973 with her mother to be close to her brother's family and to watch his children grow up. She was devoted to children and spent her life caring for them. She delighted in friends, family, babies, pets, holidays, and letter-writing, and was often seen knitting a baby blanket or afghan to give to a relative or friend.

For many years Miss Davis kept the nursery at Auburn United Methodist Church, where she loved the children and regarded them as her own. She was always helpful, kind, patient, and cheerful, and she will long be remembered as a unique and loving person.
