Loyd Lavon Vardeman

Loyd Lavon Vardeman, 83, of Waco, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006, in a local nursing facility. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, at BrookView Funeral Home with Dr. John Collier officiating. Interment will follow at Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

He was born Sept. 1, 1923, in Hill County to parents, Arys Holiday and Lillian Caraway Vardeman, and attended New Hope and Cottonwood schools in Hill County. Mr. Vardeman had been a Waco resident since 1946, moving from Hubbard. He married Willie Faye Williamson on Oct. 5, 1946, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 24, 2005. He was a veteran and served in the U.S. Army. He was employed as a truck driver for Sears and retired after 33 years of service in 1985. He was a member of Parkview Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Fisher; two sisters, Vera Bailey and Geneva Paslay; and a brother, Holiday Vardeman.

Survivors include a brother, Edward Wilson and wife, Pauline of Dallas; two grandsons, Koda Fisher and Pacer Fisher both of Waco; a granddaughter, Tah-lia Crist of Robinson; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Koda Fisher, Pacer Fisher, James Crist, Lonnie Glosson, Larry Glosson and Lonnie Glosson Jr.

The family requests memorials to Parkview Christian Academy.
