Lucille D. Pearce

HACKBERRY -- Lucille Davies ``Maw Maw'' Pearce died at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 14 at her home.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003 from St. Peter Catholic Church in Hackberry. Burial will follow in the Hackberry Community Cemetery under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday in the church.

She was born on Sept. 12, 1923 in Lake Charles. Her parents were Charles and Lenora Davies. She had two brothers, Yancy William and Charles Raymond Davies and two sisters, Vivian Neil and Althea Pitrie. Her family moved to Hackberry when she was a young girl and she graduated from Hackberry High School.

She was the wife of 52 years of William C. Pearce who preceded her in death, and mother-in-law of Darla Pearce who also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her four children and their spouses, William Dale Pearce, Frances Gafford and her husband James, Linda Welch and her husband Benny, Dr. James A. Pearce and his wife Ro Reisa. She had nine grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, three nieces and two nephews.

She was a member of the Hackberry Catholic Daughters of America, Home Demonstration Club and the Hackberry Cemetery Board.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Ben, Yancy and Dusty Welch, Joe and Clyde Gafford, Michael and Mitchell Pearce, Austin Pearce and Jason Little, husband of her granddaughter Alice Little.
