Lucille Carlock Powell

NATCHEZ -- Funeral services for Lucille Carlock Powell, 89, a native of Meadville and a resident of Natchez who died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003 at Natchez Regional Hospital will be at 2 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel in Natchez with the Rev. Julius Roberts and Bishop Paul Hays officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery.

Ms. Powell was born Oct. 13, 1913, the daughter of Tyson William [sic Wilkinson] and Dorothy Smith Freeman. She was a longtime member of the Natchez Church of God and an avid gardener.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Parley Carlock; her second husband, Robert Powell; six brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include a sister, Mildred Carlock of Denham Springs, La., and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be her nephews, Rod Powell, Roddy Powell, Errol Richardson, Dwayne Richardson, Howard Tyson and Greg Brown.
