Lucille Laverne King
Lucille Laverne King, 92 passed from this life on Monday, January 30, 2012 at her home in Pascagoula. She was born April 1, 1919 in Stringer.
Mrs. King was employed for twenty years with BVD in Moss Point and later worked in cafeterias for the Pascagoula School System. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge 151 of Pascagoula where she served in several offices and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Pascagoula. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and above all attending church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and Sunday dinners at Mamaw's house, as she was affectionately called by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, were a family tradition. To sum up her life in a few words, we would say ``devotion and love for God and family''.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Viola McCarty Parker; brothers, Alvis, Forest, Woodrow, Ira, Thomas, Ollie and Willis; sisters, Bama, Eunice, Virginia and Ruby; and a grandson, Scottie King.
Mrs, King is survived by her husband, Mr. Travis King of Pascagoula; sons, James Robert King and wife Jean of Pascagoula, Freddie King and wife Janice of Pascagoula; brother, Norris Parker of Jackson; grandchildren, Chris King, Wayne King, Kimberly King George, Travis E. King; great-grandchildren, Charley Wayne King, Tawana King, Dana King, Tristan Davis, Gavin Davis, Nolan King, Leyton King and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 2, 2012 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm from the funeral home chapel with Dr. George Burger officiating. Interment will follow at Serene Memorial Gardens in Escatawpa.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the general fund of Calvary Baptist Church @ 2101 Market Street Pascagoula, Mississippi 39567.
