Lucille Williams Kersey
(September 28, 1918 - May 7, 2011)

Lucille Williams Kersey, 92, passed away in her home on Saturday, May 7, 2011, following a lengthy battle with lung cancer.

Lucille was born in Millville on September 28, 1918, and lived all but a few months of her life in Panama City. Her mother passed away before her second birthday and she was raised by her Aunt, Ms. Sallie Williams. She married William Russell Kersey, Sr., in 1938, and they moved into their home in the Cove in 1940, where she resided until her death. In her younger years she was very active in the Women's Club, the Garden Club, and several Women's Auxiliaries, but her greatest volunteer commitment was to the Pink Ladies at Bay Medical Center, where she amassed over 32,000 volunteer hours before her “retirement”; most of those hours in the hospital gift shop.

Lucille was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, William Russell Kersey, Sr. (2006), her older brother, Major Daniel Edwin Williams, US Army Air Corps (1944), and her oldest son, W02 William Russell Kersey, Jr., US Army (1970).

She is survived by her son, Colonel (Ret) Daniel E. (Ed) Kersey (Cindy), her grandson, William Thomas Kersey (Lee), her granddaughter, Kimberly Anne Kersey Roberts (Brad), and her six great-grandchildren; Tyler, Alex, TC, and Marisa Kersey and Emma and Jacob Roberts, all currently residing in the Orlando area.
