Frances Anders
Frances Anders passed from this life into eternal life at home in Heaven on June 11, 2003 at the age of 76. She and her husband Grady Anders had made their home in Bryan for over 30 years. They had recently moved to a Retirement Center in Austin, Texas to be near their three children. She became ill in January and had fought a hard fight. Weary and ready to go Home, she passed peacefully surrounded by her family.
Frances worked for Kelly's Toylane in Townshire Shopping Center from 1974 until the store's closing. She was Assistant Store Manager and helped in buying merchandise for the popular toy store. Later, she joined the sales force in women's wear at Manor East Bealls Department Store where she worked until her retirement in the late l980s. She had made her church home at Beacon Baptist Church since 1986. She loved to crochet, watch baseball, hunt, fish, and be near her husband of 57 years.
She leaves behind her husband Grady Anders, three children David Anders, Ida James, and DK (Kay) Speaks, all of Austin. Her legacy also includes 6 grandchildren and their spouses Ken Speaks, Jr. (Austin), Laurie Henderson (Katy), Kevin Speaks (Dallas), Danielle Alfano (Dallas), Grady Speaks (Tokyo, Japan) and Grant James (senior in high school, Austin). She had the privilege of celebrating the birth of 10 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home in Austin on Monday June 16th at 10 am. Internment will be at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. The family will be receiving guests during the viewing from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 14th.
