‘Dete’ Cutrera service held
Luke “Dete” Joseph Cutrera, 80, a native and lifelong resident of Patterson,
died at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at Teche Regional Medical Center
in Morgan City.
He is survived by his wife, Irma Rushing Cutrera of Patterson; one son,
Rodney Cutrera of Patterson; two daughters, Brenda Cayce of New Iberia and
Gina Cutrera of Patterson; one sister, Lena Bernauer of Patterson; six
grandchildren, Kylie Cayce, Shane Cayce, Courtney Cutrera, Janice Hayden,
Rhonda Coats and Russell Wayne Cutrera; and nine great-grandchildren.
Mr. Cutrera was preceded in death by his father, Gaetano Cutrera; his
mother, Josephine Catalinotta Cutrera; one son, Gaetano “Guy” Cutrera; one
brother, Lucien “Loppy” Cutrera; and one granddaughter, Melissa Cutrera.
Mr. Cutrera was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during
World War II with the 340th Field Artillery Battalion in Normandy, Northern
France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He received the Bronze Star for
bravery. He was also a member of American Legion Post 242.
Visitation was held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday at Ibert's Mortuary in
Patterson, with a rosary service at 7 p.m. Visitations resumed today from 8
a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
A Mass of Christian burial followed at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church
in Patterson, the Rev. Richard Greene officiating.
Interment followed in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
Arrangements were entrusted to Ibert's Mortuary of Patterson.
