LULA “MEME” EMMONS
STEPHENVILLE -- Lula “Meme” Emmons, after living a full life of 94 years, passed away on her birthday, Tuesday, May 11, 2004, in Oakwood Assisted Living in Stephenville, Texas.
She was born on May 11, 1910, in Kaufman County to James Edward Cain and Lavina Hillburn Cain. She married H.T. Allard on May 9, 1929. They had two children, Jim Allard and Dorothy Aliene Taylor. For 31 years she ran Marx Street Beauty Shop in San Angelo.
She is survived by her son, Jim, and wife, Linda Allard; daughter, Dorothy Taylor of San Angelo; a sister, Beaulah Kindred of Athens, Texas; seven grandchildren, Jimmy Jackson of Stephenville, Beverly Allard of Long Beach, Calif., Sheryl Lewis, Tommy Jackson, Kelly Allard, Scott Allard and Debra Ramirez, all of San Angelo; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, H.T. Allard and C.J. Emmons.
She will be remembered for her mashed potatoes, dancing a jig and chasing her grandson around the house for putting sawdust in her lawnmower. She loved to fish and work in her garden.
Service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 14, at Stephenville Funeral Home. She will be buried in Scurry-Mount Olive Cemetery in Kaufman County, Texas.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 13, at Stephenville Funeral Home.
