Lurline “Sue” Esley
Lurline “Sue” Esley passed away peacefully at the home of her son, Wayne Esley, Monday, June 4, 2012 at the age of 88.
She was born July 28, 1923 in Winnfield, Louisiana. Sue met
Gerald Delorme Esley when he was stationed at Barksdale Air Base during WWII and they were married on July 3, 1945. Soon after they moved to Gerald's hometown of Stockton, California where sons Gordon and Wayne were born. Sue was an active member of First Baptist Church in Stockton for more than 50 years. She loved teaching Sunday school and belonged to the Crusaders Sunday School class and Friendship Circle. Sue was a strong Christian and she spent time each day praying and reading her Bible. Sue loved taking care of her home and spending time with family. Holidays and Sunday dinners at Grandma's house was a family tradition.
Sue is preceded in death by her husband Gerald Delorme Esley; her brothers George, Clifford, Stafford and Ben Warner; sisters Hazel Ford and Moise Grosjean.
Sue is survived by her sons Gordon (Sandy) Esley and Wayne (Susan) Esley; two grandchildren Jennifer (Paul) Mills and Jason (Kristi Rosa') Esley. Also, five great grandchildren, Sophia and Benjamin Esley; Wyatt, Coraline and Gabriella Mills.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Friday, June 22, 2012 at First Baptist Church, 3535 N. El Dorado, Stockton, CA at 11:00 am.
