Luther Howell Funeral Rites Slated Today

Funeral services for Luther E. Howell Sr., 70, will be held at 3 p.m. today in the chapel of Mulhearn's Funeral Home in Monroe with the Rev. Lea Joyner officiating.

Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery with military honors.

Mr. Howell died at his residence, 115 Filer St., Monroe, early Sunday after a long illness.

A native of Gilbert, Mr. Howell had resided in Monroe for 43 years, where he served as a bookkeeper for the City of Monroe until his retirement.

He was a World War I veteran and a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include one son, Luther E. Howell Jr., Monroe; one sister, Mrs. Jula [sic Lula] Jarratt, Gilbert; and one half-brother, Ransom Roberts, Wisner.

Pallbearers will be Robert Warner, E. M. Steen, W. L. Husted Jr., F. W. Cotes, Guy Jones Jr., Sam Trent, C. L. Taylor and Marzell Hill.
