Longtime Resident Dies at 79

Mrs. Lyda Jones Williams, 2830 Milton St., died Saturday night at Heritage Manor Nursing Home after a long illness. She was 79.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. today at Rose-Neath Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Whittaker, pastor of Werner Park Church of the Nazarene, officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Park.

A native of Lexington, Miss., Mrs. Williams had lived in Shreveport 59 years. She was a member of Werner Park Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include two sons, Benton E. Williams of Shreveport and John Blanks Williams of Houston, Tex.; three daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Hitt, Mrs. Doris Parks and Mrs. Lorraine Boggs, all of Shreveport; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be W. C. Holley, P. J. Trantham, Murrell Brown, William J. “Bill” Howard, Willie D. Preot [Perot?] and W. D. Keeth.
