Mrs. Wade Rites Today

SWEETWATER -- Funeral for Mrs. Ben Wade, 89, a Sweetwater resident since 1883, was to be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Fourth and Elm Street Church of Christ.

The minister, Preston Cotham, was to officiate. Burial was to be in Sweetwater Cemetery under direction of Cate-Spencer Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wade died at 3:30 a.m. Thursday in Simmons Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

The former Lydia McElroy, she was born Oct. 4, 1878 in Robinson [sic Robertson] County and moved here with her family.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Fay McDonald and Mabel Wade, both of Sweetwater, Mrs. Lucille Rollins [sic Rollans] of Roby and Mrs. Alene Brincefield of Brownwood; two sons, George and Cecil, both of Sweetwater; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Wade was preceded in death by her husband, who died here in 1935, two sons, five sisters and two brothers.

Pallbearers were to be Oran Maynard, John Wilkerson, Claude Scales, Hudson Lincoln, O. M. Scott and Clyde Nunn.
