Lydia Mae Flowers

Lydia Mae Flowers, 97, of Jena, died Friday, February 9, 2006, at the LaSalle General Hospital of Jena.

She was a retired clerk for Louisiana Power and Light Company, and during World War II, she was a shipping and supply supervisor at Camp Livingston.

Mrs. Flowers was a world traveler, absorbing the knowledge from many countries she had visited. Her many strengths included her independence and always putting her family first. She also enjoyed working crossword puzzles.

Services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 11, in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena with Rev. Albert Vickers officiating.

Interment followed in the Woodland Cemetery of Jena under direction of Hixson Brothers, Inc., of Jena.

She was preceded in death by her husband, A. D. ``Bill'' Flowers; and a step-son, Bill Edward Flowers.

Survivors include two special nieces, Jody Boyd of Jena and Shirley McClure of Little Rock, Ark., as well as a host of other nieces and nephews.
