Funeral services for M. C. ‘Smokey’ Givens, 75, of West Monroe, LA will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe. The Reverend Jeff Luellen will be officiating. Interment is to follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery, West Monroe, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.

M.C. was born May 1, 1935 in Chase, LA and passed away April 3, 2011 in West Monroe. He was a retired pipeline inspector for EN Global Inspection. Mr. Givens was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Branch Givens and a son, Michael C. Givens.

He is survived by daughters Marylin Givens Bryant of West Monroe, Deborah Givens Bass of Kelly, LA, Johnnye A. Pate of Shreveport, Pamela Givens Nurmi of Woodbine, GA, Katie Givens Copeland of West Monroe, and Jennifer Givens Brown also of Woodbine, GA; sons Aubrey D. Givens of West Monroe, Maury Scot Givens of Baton Rouge, LA, Daniel Todd Givens of West Monroe, Merle C. Givens of West Monroe, and Kevin A. Givens of West Monroe; 22 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Greg Shryock, Dustin Givens, Patrick Bass, Curtis Givens Jr., Jason Givens, Glenn Givens, Gerald Givens, John Holloway, Joseph Bryant, and Christopher Givens.

Honorary pallbearers are Darrell Meredith, Robert Nurmi, Dusty Copeland, Blake Brown and Daniel Givens.

Visitation will be held Monday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the chapel at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA.
